Please Read to me

What is Please Read to Me?

Through book drives and donations, the "Please Read to Me" Initiative will gather books and distribute them to children of the CASA and Families First programs.

Our goal is to encourage parents to read more to their children and motivate children to read on a regular basis. We want every child to have access to books and the wonderful experience of reading!

If you're interested in donating books, doing a book drive, or donating money to buy books, contact Pat Stephens, at the Family Advocate Program at 208-345-3344 ext. 1006.

Statistics

In the United States, it is estimated that 1 in 7 (over 40 million people) are functionally illiterate : either unable to read and write completely, or cannot read, write or or comprehend beyond a 6th grade level.

Research shows that there is no such thing as too early to begin reading to children.

High School graduation rates are considerably lower for children in foster care than for children raised by their parents.
