This is a fund raising event for Family Advocates. Our goal is to raise $65,000 to help us provide a voice for abused and neglected children and to support families by helping give parents give their children the best start in life.
Professional, amateur and youth chefs create exquisite, themed, gingerbread houses. The gingerbread houses, along with other items, are auctioned off at our Gala Dinner on November 13th. For information on the requirements for entering your gingerbread house download the forms on the right.
Family Advocates is a private non-profit agency dedicated to achieving the following mission:
“Family Advocates" works to give children placed in foster care a voice in court through the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program and Families First supports families through early education to help parents give their children the best start in life.”
Our Gingerbread Holiday Gala supports two programs:
· The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program is committed to the protection and healing of abused and neglected children. It recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who advocate for children placed in foster care. The volunteer visits the child regularly, researches the child’s background, and prepares a detailed profile of the child for the courts.
· The Families First program is committed to helping parents keep their families strong and give their children the best possible start in life. Professionally trained parent educators visit families at home. They work one-on-one with parents to increase confidence in parenting skills, access services and resources, reduce isolation and loneliness, and help children enter school ready to succeed.
